HardieBacker® 12mm Cement Board for Walls

​A 12mm thick cement backerboard for tile and stone, to be used as an alternative to plasterboard for tiling on walls.

HardieBacker 12mm is a water-resistant, cement backerboard for tile that fastens directly to the wooden frame of a wall. A good tile job begins with using the right materials, and when tiling onto a wall in a wet area, there are a few important things to consider.

1. HardieBacker cement backer board is impervious to water damage and will not rot, crack, or swell in the wettest conditions.
2. It contains MouldBlock Technology™, an anti-mould additive that prevents unseen mould growth behind the walls. It contains no paper facing, a food source for mould or gypsum, which can disintegrate with continuous water exposure.
3. Unlike plasterboard, HardieBacker board has a unique cement formulation providing a strong bond to all ceramic or natural stone tiles for applied weights of up to 100kg/m².
4. It is non-combustible and carries an A1 fire rating. HardieBacker 12mm can also be used on the floor when additional height is needed, behind a boiler, or even behind a multi-fuel or log burning stove.
